Request Category: Private Individuals

Question Number 1:
Follow on from FOI 8207 -

When I am referring to data linkage, I mean the methods of linking data across the NHS Trust but also across the different health and care organisations (community care, social care, mental health). Regarding data bricks, I am referring to tools that help you connect your sources of data to one platform to process, store, share, analyze, model, and monetize datasets with solutions from BI to generative AI.

What are your current approaches to linking data? Please select one of the following options: Manually or semi-automated / Automated

Answer To Question 1:
Automated

We share data between systems using an Integration Engine
We download sets of data into a Trust Data Warehouse for onward use.

Question Number 2:
What is the proportion of data linkage that is manual and automated? Please provide an estimate if you do not have the exact number.
a. If automated, what tools are used? Please provide the name of the tools.
b. If manual, what tools are used e.g. R, data bricks? Please provide the name of the tools

Answer To Question 2:
Trust Integration Engine is fully automated.

Processes to feed the data warehouse are all automated.

We use SQL to interrogate the warehouse and this is semi-automated

Question Number 3:
Currently, is the data linking process cumbersome? Please select one option: Yes/No

Answer To Question 3:
No

Question Number 4:
And does it take away from people’s everyday role? Please select one option: Yes/No

Answer To Question 4:
No, we have a data warehouse team and a BI team who lead on this.
