Welcome, and thank you for visiting this information page about the Maternity Services at ºÚÁÏÍø.

We’re a forward-thinking friendly service that strives to put women and families at the centre of all we do. Staff wellbeing, and ultimately staff development, are a priority in the service and will provide us with the opportunity to develop highly effective and importantly happy teams.

Following significant investment into the Maternity Services, we’re now looking to recruit enthusiastic and highly motivated midwives to complement our existing team. Whether you have previous clinical experience or are newly qualified, we’d love to hear from you!

All we ask is that you demonstrate a keenness to learn, have a passion to help us improve our services and strive to offer the best care to families.

Please continue to read on, and if I can be of any further assistance please get in touch via sft.recruitment@nhs.net.

Best Wishes,

Vicki Marston - Director of Midwifery and Neonatal Services

As an extra incentive we are offering a financial incentive to join us as a clinical band 5 or band 6 midwife:

  • £1,500 on joining the Trust

  • £1,500 at the end of the first year (with a plan to stay with us for two years)

Here at ºÚÁÏÍø, we are proud to be able to facilitate an average of 2,200 births per year. As a Trust, we offer birth in three areas: our obstetric led unit, alongside birth centre and at home.

We have recently had a new relocated Day Assessment Unit and alongside birth centre open, so it's an exciting time to come and work here as we move forward with delivering exceptional care to expectant mothers and their families. We work closely with our Local Maternity Neonatal System (LMNS) with colleagues in Bath and Swindon to ensure a collaborative approach to maternity care across the region and we are now looking to recruit exceptional candidates to come and join our existing team.

As a Maternity Care Assistant, we will support your ability to work within all areas of our maternity unit, supporting families through every aspect of their childbearing journey. We also have community roles to complete new-born screening tests and support outpatient services.

As a newly qualified midwife you’ll be offered a structured and supportive preceptorship programme, to support your clinical skills, experiences and future career aspirations within all inpatient settings.

As an experienced midwife you will have opportunity to work either in the hospital or community setting. We will offer an individualised induction programme, including clinical training and supernumerary support. We offer a wide range of development opportunities to learn new skills or further your career.

Education and Development in Maternity Services
We are also looking for volunteers!

Our staff at ºÚÁÏÍø District Hospital have long been well regarded for the quality of care and treatment they provide for our patients and for their innovation, commitment and professionalism. This has been recognised in a wide range of achievements and it is reflected in our award of NHS Foundation Trust status. This is afforded to hospitals that provide the highest standards of care.
